Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on clay soils in Santo Stefano Briga. The 7-hectare vineyard occupies a very steep slope at elevations from 0 to 450 metres. Yields are limited to no more than 1 kg per vine.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected and vinified at the winery under strict temperature control.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in new Tronçais oak barrels, followed by a further two years in the winery’s cellars after bottling.
Label / history
Palari was founded in the eighteenth century in Santo Stefano Briga, in the province of Messina, to revive ancient winemaking traditions through modern methods. Its founder was Salvatore Geraci. The winery released its first wine in 1990 and now produces fewer than 40,000 bottles across three wines: Palari Faro, Rosso Del Soprano and Santa.Nè.
