Tasting profile
Luminous, concentrated garnet red. The bouquet combines dark fruit preserved in spirit, dried flowers, mace-like spice and chocolate over a delicate balsamic background. Broad and generous on entry, the palate is full and enveloping, with firm yet polished tannins. The long aromatic finish recalls rhubarb jam and gently bitter roots.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Pair with red meat, braised dishes, game and aged cheeses. The 2018 release is also presented with roast beef, spicy dishes, pasta and Asian preparations such as sweet-and-sour pork and Peking duck.
Label / history
The wine is framed as an expression of the volcanic energy and forthright character of Basilicata.
