Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards lie in San Cristoforo, a sub-zone of Neive defining a specific cru. The exposure is south-east, while the hilltop turns through 360° in the manner of the Piedmontese sites locally called “Bricchi.” The vines are Guyot trained, and cluster thinning limits yield to 5,500 kg/ha.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Harvest takes place in the first half of October, subject to weather conditions. After pressing, fermentation proceeds for approximately 10–12 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats at 26–28°C. Several rackings and malolactic fermentation precede transfer to oak.

Ageing

The wine ages for 16–18 months in large 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels. Its slow, steady bottle development supports an ageing potential of several decades.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Rose and violet aromas mingle with balsamic and mineral notes. The palate is notably fresh, with velvety tannins, an elegant profile and a warm, inviting finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with game, braised beef and robust traditional Piedmontese meat dishes. It also complements Alba white-truffle preparations such as cardoon flan with fondue sauce and game-filled ravioli, and may be enjoyed as a meditation wine.
