Vineyard and terroir
SYRAH comes from the estate’s oldest vines, planted in 1992. Deep-rooted mature plants and a very small production distinguish this limited wine. The vineyard is farmed organically, without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and the wine is certified organic.
Grapes
100% Syrah.
Vinification
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand at the beginning of October at full physiological ripeness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with an 18-day maceration designed to extract the variety’s spicy character.
Ageing
The wine matures for 16 months in used barriques, supporting its structure without overwhelming its delicate pepper notes. Bottling takes place in June.
Technical data
The 2023 current vintage has 14.0% alcohol. Production is limited to 1,500 bottles, and the wine is certified organic.
Tasting profile
An elegant, refined and recognizably varietal Syrah. The bouquet carries a delicate note of white pepper. The palate is sophisticated and concludes with a subtly smoky finish, while retaining a stylistic kinship with the estate’s Tuscan wines.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with hearty meats, classic pasta or a selection of fine cheeses. The 2023 vintage may be enjoyed now through 2032.
Label / history
The vines were originally planted to provide a blending component for Sangiovese. Their distinctive character led to separate, single-varietal vinification, and the wine subsequently developed a following as a small-production collector’s bottling.
