Vineyard and terroir
Puglia's moderately mild climate and ample moisture help the grapes stay juicy and aromatic. Poggio Le Volpi's vineyards extend across the areas of Veglie and Torricella, which were added after the Masca del Tacco winery was acquired.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo cryomaceration at a low temperature. They are then gently pressed, and the must is left to settle before fermenting slowly at a low temperature in steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures on the lees in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Bright, fresh and aromatic.
Label / history
Masca del Tacco is housed in a building that was once the Municipal Cooperative of Erchie Producers, operating since 1949. In 2010 Felice Mergè, following the experience of his father Armando, bought and renovated it and renamed it Masca del Tacco. He equipped the winery with modern facilities and introduced production methods intended to improve quality while keeping the wines' traditional character. The 2016 and 2017 vintages of L'Uetta won four gold medals in total, at Mundus Vini and the Berliner Wine Trophy.
