Tasting profile
Intense ruby red. Blackberries and blueberries lead the fruit profile, accompanied by vanilla; with air, the aromas develop toward tobacco, chocolate and a light coffee note. The palate is complex, full and robust, yet fresh enough to remain long and pleasing. The 2017 vintage is also described as soft and velvety, rich in polyphenols and extract, with balancing freshness.
Serving and pairing
Recommended with structured dishes such as stewed red meats and game, as well as sharp cheeses.
Vintage notes
A dry, mild winter encouraged early budding in 2017. Late-April frost reduced production slightly. From May, above-average temperatures were moderated by constant coastal breezes, and rain did not return until early September. Harvest was brought forward by about ten days. Lower volume was balanced by excellent grape quality.
Label / history
Created in honour of Luna Rossa and the enthusiasm generated by its America’s Cup campaign, Bafforosso is a limited edition of Baffonero whose name pays tribute to the Luna Rossa dream.
