Vintage notes
The inaugural release was produced from the 2020 vintage in extremely small quantities.
Label / history
Colto emerged after years of focused work in the estate vineyards and debuted with the 2020 vintage.
The label reproduces Sandro Chia’s large 1984 oil painting Southern Comfort. The work belongs to the artist’s monumental 1980s period and reflects his recurring interest in working men, American popular culture, Italian Spaghetti Westerns and the cultural bond between Italy and horses. Its imagery evokes the warmth and force of sunset as workers return from the vineyards, while reducing work to elemental ideas of gesture, posture and connection with the infinite.
