Vineyard and terroir
The Trebbiano and Chardonnay grapes grow on the hills of central Tuscany, in soils rich in Galestro. This porous grey marl occurs in the upper layers of Tuscan soil; as it weathers, it creates poor soil and contributes to dry growing conditions.
Vinification
After pressing, the must is settled at low temperature and separated from the sediment. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve freshness in the aromas and flavours.
Ageing
Before release, the wine matures in neutral steel tanks at 16 °C and then spends some time in bottle.
Tasting profile
A young, uncomplicated and easy-drinking wine with a pleasantly fresh taste.
Label / history
The name comes from Galestro, the porous grey rock characteristic of Tuscan soils. In the 1970s, local winemakers formed a consortium to make fresh, light, low-alcohol wines in response to changing market tastes.
