Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards at the Greppone Mazzi estate in Montalcino, planted between 1980 and 1996 on loamy soils at elevations of 210–460 metres.
Grapes
The wine is made from a careful selection of Sangiovese Grosso, also known as Brunello.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 28 °C for about two weeks. The wine then macerates on the skins for 10 days and undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for 36 months in 300- and 600-litre oak barrels, rests for six months in steel tanks, and ages for a further eight months in bottle in the estate’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Complex in aroma and flavour.
Label / history
The gold star on the label represents the wine’s special place in Ruffino’s portfolio.
