Label / history
The estate’s name derives from the Italian allodola, meaning “lark,” after the songbirds that have migrated to the Cortona area for centuries. The earliest records of Lodola Nuova date from the mid-13th century, and wine production began there in the 15th century. Ruffino acquired the estate in 1990 and built a modern three-level cellar for fermentation and ageing in 2004.
