Label / history
The label is handmade from clay, so each bottle is unique. Feudi di San Marzano was founded in Puglia in 2003 by its current owners, Cantine San Marzano and Farnese Vini. Historical records place vine cultivation in the area in the seventh century BC; the Greeks called the region Enotria, meaning “land of wine.” The estate uses the Ancient Greek alberello method of bush training, which is mentioned in the writings of Xenophon. Its 500 ha of vineyards lie mainly on the red soils of the municipality of San Marzano and are planted almost entirely with local varieties.
