Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from espalier-trained vineyards around San Marzano in the province of Taranto, Salento, Puglia, at approximately 100 m above sea level. The area has high average temperatures and medium-low rainfall. The shallow soils are clayey and contain a substantial rocky component. Planting density is 4,500 vines per hectare.
Grapes
The 2024 release is an equal blend of 50% Primitivo and 50% Merlot.
Vinification
Harvest takes place during the first half of September. Temperature-controlled maceration and alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts last approximately 10 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 4–6 months in French oak barriques.

The 2024 release has 13.5% alcohol by volume.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red with garnet streaks. The bouquet is rich in ripe red fruit, cherries and forest berries, accompanied by a suggestion of cinnamon. The palate has substantial structure, a velvety tannic texture and a long, pleasant finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18°C with rich first courses, red meat, game or hard cheeses. Ideal consumption is within 7 years of harvest.
Label / history
Talò is a family name chosen as a collective tribute to the growers of San Marzano and their families, who tend each vineyard like a garden. The collection unites different varieties as a symbol of the community.
