Vineyard and terroir
The Trebbiano di Lugana grapes come from the company's own vineyards in Veneto. The estate selects grapes from the sunniest and most open sites.
Grapes
The text names the grape as Trebbiano di Lugana, which differs from the Verdicchio shown in the fields.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes go to the winery. They undergo a short cold maceration, then ferment in steel tanks under strict temperature control.
Ageing
The wine spends a short time in stainless steel vats.
Tasting profile
Elegant white wine.
Label / history
Santa Sofia's wines have been tied to the history, culture and land of the region for two hundred years. The winery is housed in a historic villa designed by Andrea Palladio in the sixteenth century, which is the symbol of the estate. The Begnoni family has owned the cellars since 1960. Giancarlo Begnoni runs the estate with his son Luciano and daughter Patrizia. The estate's whites are fermented in modern steel tanks.
