Vineyard and terroir

The wine is produced from 0.85 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards within MGA Cerretta in Serralunga d’Alba. The vines grow at 380–400 m above sea level in limestone, tufa and sand. They are traditionally Guyot-trained at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare and are between 25 and 35 years old, depending on the parcel.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Harvesting is carried out by hand in the second half of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in 3,000–5,000 L concrete vats for approximately 15–20 days at 25–27 °C. The fermenting must is pumped over twice daily, aerating it and breaking the cap. Frequent rackings in steel tanks follow before the wine enters wood.

Ageing

Maturation lasts at least 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels. The wine then spends a minimum of six months ageing in bottle in cool, dark cellars before release.

Tasting profile

Full, luminous garnet in colour, with a captivating aromatic profile and notable persistence. Potency and energy underpin a style intended for long ageing.
