Label / history
The cooperative belongs to Colterenzio’s classic wine range and takes its name from the village of Colterenzio near Girlan, where one of Europe’s oldest vineyards was planted by the ancient Romans. It was founded in 1960 by 28 local farmers and now comprises more than 290 winegrowers with around 300 ha of vineyards.
Winemaking in the area dates to ancient Roman times. In the 15th century, wines from Trentino-Alto Adige were enjoyed by Archduke Sigismund, who lived at Firmiano Castle and actively supported the development of local vineyards. The labels bear the silhouette of the 15th-century castle, which is now almost entirely in ruins.
