Label / history
The cooperative, founded in 1960 by 28 local farmers, takes its name from the village of Colterenzio near Girlan. Today it comprises more than 290 winegrowers with around 300 ha of vineyards.
Colterenzio is home to one of Europe’s oldest vineyards, planted by the ancient Romans. The labels feature the silhouette of a 15th-century castle built by Archduke Sigismund, a wine enthusiast who supported local vineyard development. He lived at Firmiano Castle, and wines from Trentino-Alto Adige were enjoyed at his court. The depicted castle is now almost entirely in ruins.
