Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Lafóa vineyard on a sunny ridge between Girlan and Schreckbichl in Cornaiano, at 430 m. The sandy, moraine-rich soils were planted in 1987 at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare.
Grapes
The vineyard is planted with three French clones.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place on the skins for 10 days, followed by a further 10–14 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation occurs after transfer to French oak barriques. The wine is racked several times and lightly filtered before bottling.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in French oak barriques, using a combination of new and previously used vessels.
Tasting profile
Remarkably bright in appearance, with expressive aromas, the wine is rich yet elegant.
