Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Prail vineyard in Eppan, in the province of Bolzano. The 10-year-old vines grow on sunny slopes at 500 metres above sea level, in soils containing mineral-rich moraine deposits.
Vinification
Before pressing, the grapes undergo several hours of cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 18 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for six months.
Label / history
Praedium is Colterenzio’s range of wines associated with historic places in Trentino–Alto Adige (Südtirol), rather than centred on individual grape varieties. The cooperative takes its name from the village of Colterenzio near Girlan, where a vineyard planted by the ancient Romans is considered one of Europe’s oldest.
Founded in 1960 by 28 local farmers, the cooperative now comprises more than 290 winegrowers with around 300 hectares of vineyards. Its labels bear the silhouette of Firmiano Castle, built by Archduke Sigismund in the 15th century. Sigismund lived there, enjoyed the region’s wines and supported the development of its vineyards; the castle is now almost completely ruined.
