Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow south of Cornaiano, at 400 m above sea level, on mineral-rich soils. The vines average 20 years of age.
Vinification
Selected grapes undergo several hours of cold maceration. The must ferments at 18 °C in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures on its lees for six months in stainless-steel tanks.
Label / history
“Sand” means “sand.” Colterenzio’s labels feature the silhouette of the now largely ruined 15th-century castle built by Archduke Sigismund at Firmiano.
