Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The 2023 Barbera comes entirely from the estate Home Ranch Vineyard in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. Picking was timed to achieve phenologically ripe flavors and tannins while preserving the variety’s vibrant acidity.
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
The fruit was sorted by hand and transferred to open-top fermentors. Fermentation was inoculated with proprietary Home Ranch yeast selected to promote a slow, steady fermentation. Pneumatic punch-downs continued for 11 days before the wine was drained to barrel to complete malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matured for 10 months in barrels: 3% new French oak and 97% neutral French and American oak. It was racked once after malolactic fermentation and again for blending before bottling.
