Vineyard and terroir
The organically grown vineyards lie on steep slopes in southwestern Sicily, at 400 metres above sea level, in the area of Menfi. The vines root deep in porous lava soil rich in ash and sulfur, which gives the Inycon wines a distinctive mineral character. The vineyards are surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, and the grapes ripen in warm sunshine and a fresh sea breeze.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested from late August to early September. Maceration and fermentation follow the traditional red-wine method, in neutral vessels.
Tasting profile
Powerful yet elegant, with a distinctive mineral character, rich flavour, colour and aroma, and an unmistakably Mediterranean character that reflects the warmth of the sun and the salt of the island's soil.
Label / history
Inycon is the ancient Greek name for the municipality of Menfi, where the grapes are grown. The line is made from grapes grown in southwestern Sicily by a team of growers who work to preserve local traditions.
