Vineyard and terroir
Vigna dei Fantini is a 1.0-hectare single vineyard situated in the highest part of the Bussia MGA. Its steep slopes face south at an altitude of 450 metres. The soil contains a high proportion of sand, alternating with compact limestone strata associated with the Arenaria di Diano formation.
The vines are between 20 and 30 years old. Individual plants are replaced periodically when necessary, while a proportion of older vines is retained to sustain longevity and quality over time.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place under a submerged cap for 7–10 days. This is followed by an extended maceration of approximately 80 days. The wine is transferred to wood after completing malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
Maturation lasts two years in wood, with the wine kept in contact with its sediment. Subsequent bottle maturation allows further complexity to develop.
