Prugnolo Gentile, the local name for Sangiovese in Montepulciano, is blended with small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 18 days of maceration at a controlled temperature of 30 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The aroma is layered, while the palate is smooth and velvety.
Label / history
The range comprises wines from the province of Siena. Its name honours Siena’s long-standing tradition of Il Palio, a medieval-style pageant and horse race held in the city twice a year.
