Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in Maremma at 70–130 metres above sea level. The vines average 11 years old and are planted at a density of 6,600 vines per hectare.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, beginning with Alicante on 24 August and followed by Sangiovese from 1 September. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28–30 °C, with 14–16 days of maceration.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in 225-litre French and American oak barrels, of which 30% are new.
Label / history
Production in 2009 totalled 70,000 bottles.
