Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from south-facing vineyards in the Montalcino area at 280–320 m above sea level. The vines are planted at 5,000 per hectare and trained to the spurred-cordon system. Vineyard work includes manual dry pruning, shoot thinning and crown desuckering, with the number of shoots per vine restricted. Harvesting is manual.
Grapes
90% Sangiovese Grosso and 10% Colorino. Sangiovese provides the structure, while Colorino contributes depth of ruby colour. The two local varieties give the wine a distinct Montalcino character.
Vinification
The 2025 wine underwent 15 days of maceration. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations took place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
Matured for six months in stainless steel, followed by at least one month in bottle.
Technical data
Vintage 2025. Alcohol: 14% vol. Total acidity: 4.9 g/L. Total dry extract: 30.2 g/L. Average annual production is approximately 25,000 bottles, filled in 500 g Bordeaux bottles.
Tasting profile
Bright ruby red. Red-fruit and spicy aromas lead to a fresh, balanced, medium-bodied palate with silky tannins and a clean finish. Its fragrant, approachable character is intended for everyday drinking while retaining the firm imprint associated with Montalcino reds.
Serving and pairing
A versatile table red. The current technical sheet recommends red meat, cheeses and hors d’oeuvres; the broader profile also suggests first courses, vegetables, antipasti, bruschetta and selected fish dishes.
