Vineyard and terroir
The Vorberg vineyard lies on the steep southern slopes of Tschögglberg, at 450–650 m above sea level. Its fossil-rich sandy loam soils were formed by the weathering of porphyry and have a high quartz content and slightly acidic pH. Free-draining and nutrient-poor, they naturally limit yields. This mild stress encourages the grapes to develop distinctive polyphenols.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation proceeds slowly at a controlled temperature in large oak barrels, followed by partial malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine rests on its fine lees for 12 months in traditional wooden barrels.
Tasting profile
Aromatic, layered and balanced, with a creamy texture, zesty acidity and clear minerality.
