Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from selected hillside sites in Cortaccia, south of Magrè. The soils are limestone, and warm days and cool Alpine nights, typical of South Tyrol, give the wine its distinctive minerality. Across the Turmhof range, the vineyards are hillside sites at elevations of up to 900 metres above sea level.
Ageing
The wine ages on the fine lees in large wooden barrels. Across the Turmhof range, wines are aged on the lees for several months, partly in wooden barrels.
Tasting profile
Distinctive minerality. The texture from the lees is rounded, creamy and elegant at the same time. The style differs markedly from Pinot Grigio from Veneto.
Label / history
The Turmhof range is named after Castel Turmhof, Tiefenbrunner's historic estate and headquarters.
