Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown across several provinces in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The marked difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures helps preserve freshness and fruit aromas.
The winery’s 25 hectares of vineyards extend along both sides of the historic Claudia Augusta road. The fertile soils are predominantly clay and rich in mineral salts, while the nearby Piave River gives a distinctive character to wines from grapes grown along its banks.
Grapes
Glera accounts for 85–100% of the blend. Depending on the vintage, it may be supplemented with other white grapes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero vinified as white wine.
Vinification
Healthy grapes are harvested and fermented in steel tanks for four days. The wine is then transferred to temperature-controlled autoclaves for the development of its bubbles, before being filtered, decanted and bottled.
Tasting profile
Light fruit aromas are accompanied by refreshing acidity.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to AD 47, the year in which Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road that runs through the winery’s vineyards.
