Vineyard and terroir
This single-varietal cru comes from Vitigliano in Panzano in Chianti. The balanced clay-loam soils contain relatively little clay and drain very well. They produce loose Sangiovese bunches and berries rich in compounds associated with elegant wines capable of long ageing. Yield is 40 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand at the end of September or in the opening days of October. After destemming, they remain for 15 days in a 50 hl stainless-steel tank. The wine is then racked, transferred and put through malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The technical sheet specifies 18–24 months in medium-toast French oak barriques, whose role is to round the variety’s tannins and add finesse. This is followed by eight months in bottle.
