Storia
Origins and expansion
The Cottini family began with 20 hectares. The family holding subsequently expanded to 140 hectares, supplemented by another 240 hectares under direct management. Growers working within this structure follow a quality protocol established by the family, while the Cottini family supervises every stage of production.
1995 cellar renovation
The cellar was renovated in 1995 as a modern, sustainability-oriented facility. Its design prioritised energy conservation and the reduction of environmental impact. Villa Annaberta describes it as remaining among Italy’s most environmentally conscious cellars.
Creation and identity of Villa Annaberta
The Villa Annaberta collection was dedicated to Annalberta, the wife of Diego Cottini. Diego shaped the collection around a style intended to combine sensitivity with dynamism, personal expression and fidelity to its roots. Sustainability, quality, tradition and respect for nature became central themes in the identity of the project.
Present-day environmental programme
Environmental measures now extend from the vineyards to the packaged product. Owned and directly managed vineyards implement the National Quality System of Integrated Production, while the full production chain holds IFS certification. Packaging measures include lightweight bottles manufactured using renewable energy and FSC-certified paper materials.
Terroir
A rocky, calcareous soil is associated specifically with the origin of Canaja Verona Rosato and with the mineral character attributed to that wine.
Vinificazione
Villa Annaberta implements the National Quality System of Integrated Production—SQNPI—in vineyards owned by the family and in those under direct management. The approach promotes intervention criteria and agronomic solutions intended to reduce impacts on both people and the environment.
Growers within the directly managed structure follow a quality protocol established by the Cottini family. The family oversees the stages of production with an emphasis on safeguarding quality and remaining faithful to tradition. The full production chain has obtained IFS certification.
The cellar was renovated in 1995 as a modern, sustainability-oriented production facility. Its design and operation focus on energy conservation and reduced environmental impact. The Cottini family supervises production through every stage, working to protect quality and continuity with tradition. The complete production chain is IFS certified.
Filosofia
Villa Annaberta presents ecology, quality and tradition as its principal sources of inspiration. Wine is understood as a resource to preserve and enhance so that the land can retain a viable future.
The project associates its wines with energy, vitality and pride in their roots. Its declared identity combines Diego Cottini’s personal style with passion, respect for nature and a continuing movement toward sustainability. Quality is also framed as a collective achievement: the wines are presented as the result of work by many men and women who share the same commitment to quality.
This philosophy is expressed in practical measures across the operation: integrated-production criteria in the vineyards, a family-defined protocol for growers, supervision throughout production, an energy-conscious cellar, certification of the complete production chain, and lower-impact packaging choices.
