Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is grown in Castiglione d'Asti. Castello del Poggio covers 180 ha, including 158 ha of vineyards in the Monferrato Asti area. The valley of the Temp River lies in front of the castle and forms a natural amphitheatre. The land is now entirely devoted to grape growing.
Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed at the winery. The must ferments until it reaches 5% alcohol, then is cooled to preserve its sweetness and distinctive aroma.
Tasting profile
The aroma is intense. The palate is balanced and not excessively sweet.
Label / history
Castello del Poggio has belonged to the Zonin family since 1985. Its medieval fortress once belonged to the noble Buneis family, while the surrounding area belonged to the Knights Templar in the 1300s.
