Xinomavro’s protected appellations
The source identifies Naoussa, Amyndeo and Goumenissa in Greek Macedonia, together with Rapsani in Thessaly, as the 4 protected appellations centred on Xinomavro. Naoussa reds must contain 100% Xinomavro; in Goumenissa it is blended with at least 20% Negoska, while Rapsani combines it with Krassato and Stavroto. The Winemakers of Northern Greece launched International Xinomavro Day in 2019.1
