Maison Marques et Domaines adds Champagne Deutz to its UK portfolio
The fine-wine importer plans to rebuild the Champagne house’s position in the United Kingdom, focusing on restaurants and fine dining.
UK fine-wine importer Maison Marques et Domaines (MMD) has announced Champagne Deutz as the latest addition to its portfolio in 2026, when MMD is marking its 40th anniversary. The partners intend to rebuild the house’s presence in the UK, with an emphasis on the on-trade and fine-dining market.1
Deutz was founded in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann in Aÿ. The Rouzaud family, which owns Champagne Louis Roederer, acquired the house in 1993, but Deutz has continued to operate independently with its own winemaking philosophy.1
The house has 42.5 hectares divided among the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne, while relationships with growers bring its vineyard supply to approximately 60 hectares. Its range includes Brut Classic and Brut Rosé non-vintage Champagnes, vintage wines and the William Deutz, Amour de Deutz and Hommage à William Deutz prestige cuvées.1
Caroline Latrive became chef de cave after joining Deutz in early 2022 and completing a 14-month handover with Michel Davesne. Her first wine for the house was Brut Classic NV based on the 2022 harvest, blending 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, with 28% reserve wines from 2019, 2020 and 2021.1
