Michigan Wine Collaborative named in LUXlife’s 2026 Barrel & Bottle Awards

Michigan Wine Collaborative says LUXlife Magazine selected it as Best Regional Wine Industry Support Organization 2026 – USA, recognizing its work across Michigan’s wine sector.

Michigan Wine Collaborative (MWC) announced that LUXlife Magazine named it Best Regional Wine Industry Support Organization 2026 – USA in the Barrel & Bottle Awards 2026. The awards recognize beverage-sector organizations and businesses for contributions to excellence and innovation.1

MWC attributes the recognition to work that connects producers, broadens educational opportunities, represents industry interests and raises the profile of wines grown and produced in Michigan. The statewide nonprofit collaborates with wineries, vineyards, hospitality professionals, tourism organizations, educational institutions, and partners from the public and private sectors in support of a sustainable and economically healthy wine industry.1

Programs and partnerships

During 2026, MWC pursued several initiatives across 4 listed areas. Its education and workforce activity included advancing the Taste Best of Michigan trade education initiative and the Inclusion and Expansion Educational Fund, alongside programs intended to improve access, knowledge, confidence and sales opportunities for Michigan wines.1

For wine promotion and market development, the organization highlighted the Taste Michigan Governor’s Cup, regional tastings, consumer engagement and industry partnerships. Its tourism and economic-development work focused on partnerships that integrate Michigan wine with the state’s agricultural, culinary and visitor experiences.1

MWC also connected producers, suppliers, educators and other partners so they could exchange resources, address challenges and support the industry’s long-term growth. Executive Director Emily Dockery said the award reflected the collaboration and commitment within Michigan’s grape and wine community. She described stewardship and continued cooperation as ways to create opportunities for growers and producers while introducing more consumers and trade professionals to wines made across the state.1

Statewide mission

MWC brings together wineries, growers, suppliers, educators and industry partners through advocacy, education, networking and shared resources. Its stated mission is to improve the Michigan wine community’s sustainability and profitability over the long term.1

Taste Michigan, an MWC initiative, seeks to build awareness and demand for wines made from Michigan-grown grapes. Consumer events, trade engagement, education and joint marketing are used to present the wines’ diversity, quality and regional identity and to strengthen links among wineries, restaurants, retailers and consumers.1

Governor’s Cup ceremony

MWC said producers and industry partners would gather at the Taste Michigan Governor’s Cup Awards Ceremony on November 20 to recognize achievement in Michigan winemaking. The ceremony was scheduled as part of the Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer & Food Festival.1
