Veneto bars stored 2025 Pinot Grigio from Delle Venezie DOC sales
A decree dated 16 October requires the affected lots to be reclassified before they can be marketed in other eligible wine categories.

Stored wine excluded from the DOC
Veneto has ordered that Pinot Grigio from the 2025 harvest still covered by a storage measure cannot be marketed as Delle Venezie DOC Pinot Grigio. Director’s Decree No. 20022, dated 16 October, was published in the regional official bulletin on 23 October.1
According to information released by Confagricoltura Vicenza, the affected wine must pass through the certification system after being reclassified. Under Article 38, paragraphs 1 and 2, of Law 238/2016, it may be marketed as Pinot Grigio with or without a geographical indication, or under another denomination of origin if it meets the applicable requirements.1
A cross-regional supply measure
The wine had been held back under an earlier supply-control measure introduced by Veneto with Director’s Decree No. 123 of 1 July 2025. Together with reduced yield limits, that measure covered part of the grapes, musts and wines produced from vineyards eligible for the Delle Venezie denomination, with the stated aim of rebalancing supply.1
The new decree followed a request from the Consorzio tutela vini DOC Delle Venezie which, according to Confagricoltura Vicenza, was shared with supply-chain organizations at a meeting on 28 September. The decision was agreed with the autonomous province of Trento and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Triveneta Certificazioni, the denomination’s control body, will manage the reclassification and assignment of the affected lots to their new marketing categories.1
Regional authorities and the consortium said releasing additional wine under the DOC label could put further pressure on prices and weaken the denomination’s commercial standing. The measure therefore prevents the stored volumes from entering the market as Delle Venezie DOC Pinot Grigio.1
