About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the Campo al Mare estate vineyards near the coast in Bolgheri.

Grapes

The grapes are selected before vinification.

Vinification

Merlot is harvested during the first half of September; the other varieties are picked during the second half. After careful destemming, the grapes are pressed and macerated for 12–15 days at 28 °C. Following alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine matures for one year in French oak barrels, followed by at least three months in bottle in the estate cellars.

Label / history

The Folonari family acquired the Campo Al Mare estate in 1999. Ambrogio Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute with his son in 2000, following the family's earlier involvement in Fratelli Folonari and Ruffino and its move towards estate-bottled wines.
