About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The west-facing Vermentino vineyards lie at 20–80 m elevation near Viale dei Pini, the avenue leading to Argentiera. The vines grow in Donoratico’s red aeolian sands alongside tall maritime pines. Planting density is 6,500 vines per hectare and the yield is 90 quintals of grapes per hectare.

Grapes

100% Vermentino.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks for 15 days. The 2023 technical sheet adds that the wine then remains on its fine lees for two months in stainless steel.

Ageing

Maturation lasts three months in stainless-steel tanks, followed by three months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Aromatic refinement and pronounced minerality define the 2024 expression. Vibrant freshness and well-integrated acidity frame the variety’s fruit. The broader profile balances crisp acidity with silky softness and offers a fresh, direct palate evocative of the sea and summer evenings.

Vintage notes

The 2024 season began with a mild, rainy winter that delivered 550 mm of precipitation through April and encouraged early budbreak. Spring rain slowed the vegetative cycle, while May flowering produced well-aerated clusters and even ripening. A dry period from 13 June to 8 September brought moderate water stress, most evident in mid-August. Rainfall of 80 mm in early September rehydrated the vines without affecting their health; fair weather between 10 and 22 September allowed optimal ripeness.

Harvest began on 5 September with the Vermentino near Viale dei Pini destined for Eco di Mare. The resulting wine combines refined aromatics, distinctive minerality, vibrant freshness and balanced acidity.

Label / history

Viale dei Pini, formerly Viale Serristori, is the landscape setting and symbolic home of the Vermentino vineyards. The maritime pine represents generosity and gentleness through the way flowers and other plants flourish beneath its shade. The wine’s sea-inspired identity evokes the rhythm of waves and views of dawn and sunset along the pine avenue.
