The fruit comes from a one-hectare vineyard at Lucinico in Collio Goriziano. The site lies at 150 metres above sea level, faces south and has ponca soils composed of Eocene marl and sandstone. The Guyot-trained vines are planted at 5,000 plants per hectare. Yield for the 2012 vintage was 11 quintals per hectare.

Vintage notes
The 2012 growing season began slightly early for the precocious varieties, while later varieties followed their usual timing. April and May were moderately rainy and slightly warmer than average, supporting steady shoot growth. Regular June rainfall aided fruit set, while rain early in July provided water for berry development. Rainfall was limited during véraison and ripening, and temperatures were somewhat above average, yet aromatic development was excellent.
