About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese and Merlot grow in estate vineyards set among olive groves and the Tuscan hills. The soils are predominantly Pliocene clay.
Vinification
The grapes are generally harvested by hand in the second half of September at optimal ripeness, then selected and vinified in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22–28 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures in barriques for at least 12 months.
Tasting profile
Made in a classic Tuscan style, it has a layered, complex aroma and palate.
Label / history
Le Forconate Ticche is one of three wines named after the grandfather of the current owners. During the difficult 1930s, he sold his wine wherever possible to make a living. Le Forconate, founded in 2008, is part of the family-owned Barbanera company.
In 2023, the wine received gold medals at the Sakura Japan Women Wine Awards and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
