About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from 10 micro-plots in 10 areas of Franciacorta. The vineyards face south and southeast, at elevations of 200–350 m, and the vines are 20 years old on average. Bellavista’s 190 hectares comprise 147 small crus divided into 224 micro-plots across 64 soil types.
Grapes
The blend is 77% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Nero and 1% Pinot Bianco.
Vinification
The wine is made by the traditional sparkling-wine method. At least 35% of the blend is fermented in small oak barrels more than 35 years old.
Ageing
The barrel-fermented portion is also aged in the same small oak barrels. The entire process, from harvest through maturation in bottle, lasts 40 months.
Tasting profile
The use of old oak barrels contributes complexity, defined texture, and depth of flavour and aroma.
