About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown along the shores of Lake Garda in clay soils, which contribute gentle spice and floral aromas. The estate, in the heart of the Lugano area near the lake, comprises the Maiolo, Molino, Storta and Rocheta vineyards and continues to use traditional farming methods.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes undergo cryomaceration at low temperature for 48 hours. They are then crushed to a pulp and fermented.
Tasting profile
The aroma is delicate and reminiscent of a rosebud, with floral notes and gentle spice. The blend gives the wine depth, and its aroma remains intact over time.
Label / history
The name “Roseri” refers to the wine’s delicate rosebud aroma. The wine is released each year on 14 February following the harvest.
Provenza was founded by Walter Contato in 1967. The owning family retained the name Provenza in honour of its place of origin, Provence. The estate began with 12 ha and later expanded to 120 ha. After Walter Contato died in May 1996, his wife Cesarina and their children, Fabio and Patrizia, took over the business and developed a large modern winery. Provenza is also known as “Ca Maiol,” honouring the vineyard’s first owner, the notary Sebastian Maolo.
