About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Rio Albo is made from selected grapes grown in several vineyards in the hills of Montecchia di Crosara. The predominantly limestone soils contain abundant pebbles and coarse mineral material. Yield is 110 quintals per hectare (11 t/ha), and harvest begins in early October.
Grapes
45% Corvina, 40% Corvinone and 15% Rondinella.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place on the skins for 7–10 days. The wine then matures in stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperature.
Technical data
Alcohol is approximately 12.5%. Production is around 130,000 bottles, in 375 ml, 750 ml and 1,500 ml formats.
Tasting profile
Ruby red in colour, with intense, persistent aromas of blackberry and cherry. The palate is supple and savoury, with light tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve initially at 14–16°C. Pair with flavourful grilled, spit-roasted or oven-roasted white meat, including chicken and pork, as well as firm, dry cheeses. It can also be served as a red-wine aperitif.
