About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vines grow at 700 m on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. Abundant lava remains allow the soil to warm quickly in spring. The site also has wide day–night temperature shifts and optimal rainfall.

Grapes

The blend comprises 85% Nerello Mascalese and 15% international red varieties.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested entirely by women. They undergo 12 days of maceration in stainless-steel tanks, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 24–26 °C.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels, 40% of them new, and then rests for a further year in bottle.

Tasting profile

Graceful and elegant in character, with a style that can recall Pinot Noir.
