About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Montemarino is a biodynamically farmed vineyard at the top of one of Gavi's highest hills. Its clay-limestone soil faces directly south, and the vines are exposed to sea breezes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to early October and placed in small 20 kg crates. Fermentation is spontaneous, in 15 hl oak barrels, with 24 hours of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation is completed in the barrels.
Ageing
After malolactic fermentation the wine ages for 12 months in the same 15 hl oak barrels. It is clarified by natural settling and bottled without filtration or added sulfites.
