About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The house's vineyards in Canelli, in the Asti region, produce more than 5,000 tonnes of grapes each year.

Vinification

The recipe is kept strictly secret and has remained unchanged since its creation. Alpine and rare exotic herbs are macerated in alcohol and added to a specially prepared wine base.

Tasting profile

A distinctive balance of bitterness and sweetness gives it a memorable taste.

Label / history

Gancia Rosso was for several centuries popularly known as "Vermouth Torino". The house was founded in 1850 by Carlo Gancia, creator of Italy's first white vermouth. In 1870, under the Kingdom of Italy, Gancia was appointed exclusive supplier to the royal court and granted the right to use the monarchy's coat of arms. In 1924 it became a supplier to the Vatican, with the right to use the Pope's coat of arms. In 1951 it was named an official supplier to the Swedish royal court. Its products are supplied to more than 60 countries.
