Label / history
The label bears the year 1850, when Gancia produced its first wine. The house was founded that year by Carlo Gancia, creator of Italy’s first white vermouth. Gancia became exclusive supplier to the royal court of the Kingdom of Italy in 1870 and received the right to use the monarchy’s coat of arms. It was chosen as a Vatican supplier in 1924, gaining the right to use the Pope’s coat of arms, and became an official supplier to the Swedish royal court in 1951.
