About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Gewürztraminer comes from a single vineyard in Oltradige at 450–500 m. Its particular conditions encourage the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), the foundation of this sweet wine. Yield is 15 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Gewürztraminer.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked in December and carried to the winery in small containers to protect them from excessive pressure. A short maceration is followed by gentle whole-cluster pressing. The must is clarified through natural sedimentation, then undergoes alcoholic fermentation in barriques for 6 months.
Ageing
Following fermentation, the wine ages for a further 6 months.
