About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

San Lorenzo Bianco is an Etna Bianco D.O.C. made from white grapes growing among the red-wine vines of San Lorenzo. The old vines are approximately 90 years of age and stand at 750 m above sea level on Etna's northern slopes. Their volcanic, sandy soil is rich in minerals. The vines are trained as alberello and modified alberello on trellises.

Grapes

90% Carricante and 10% other indigenous varieties, specifically Catarratto and Grecanico.

Vinification

Harvesting is manual and takes place in the first half of October. Fermentation temperature is 12–15°C. The wine receives four hours of skin contact and does not undergo malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Maturation lasts six months in second- and third-use barriques and tonneaux, followed by at least six months in bottle.

Technical data

Etna Bianco D.O.C. Alcohol: 13%. Production: 2,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Straw yellow with light golden reflections. The fine, elegant bouquet emphasizes characteristic citrus and floral notes with subtle spicy nuances. The palate is fresh and savoury; acidity balances the alcohol and carries the wine into a persistent, long and markedly mineral finish.
