About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from a 10-hectare vineyard at 100 metres above sea level in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan Maremma coast. The vines average 20 years of age and experience a gentle Mediterranean climate.
Grapes
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 10% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Vinification takes place in stainless-steel tanks. Grattamacco follows a Bordeaux-inspired approach in which the Rosso and Superiore selections are made directly from the barriques. The Superiore is selected for elegance and ageing potential, while freshness is the defining emphasis of the Rosso.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10 months in French oak barriques of second and third passage, followed by six months in bottle.
