About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The production area is Suvereto in Livorno, Tuscany. The vineyards lie at 100 m above sea level on soils composed of clay, stone and silt. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare, trained to spur-pruned cordon.
Grapes
100% Merlot.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barriques.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately 18 months in a combination of new and second-use barriques, followed by at least 12 months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Very intense ruby with violet reflections. The bouquet combines blackcurrant, blackberry and sour cherry with vanilla, cocoa and nutmeg. Structured, harmonious and elegant on the palate, with soft, velvety tannins and a very long finish.
Serving and pairing
Recommended with bistecca alla fiorentina, braised game and mature cheeses.
